Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Pathologist Assistant to join our team. As a Pathologist Assistant, you will work under the general supervision of a Pathologist to perform complex clinical laboratory procedures, including gross examination of human tissue surgical specimens, specimen accessioning, and histologic processing.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct gross examination of human tissue surgical specimens and perform appropriate specimen accessioning.
- Select diagnostic sections for histologic processing in collaboration with the Pathologist.
- Prepare tissue for histologic processing and maintain detailed records of specimen dissections and dictations.
- Assist in the compilation of reports for surgical pathology and label and store gross tissue specimens.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the surgical pathology suite and maintain equipment.
- Graduate of a NAACLS-approved educational training program or a bachelor's degree with a concentration in a biological or allied health discipline and three years of experience as a Pathologist Assistant under direct supervision of a Pathologist.
- Master's degree in pathology preferred.
- Excellent dissection technical skills and knowledge of histologic procedures.
- Ability to work independently and utilize a professional attitude to gain and maintain the trust of associates.
