PAGNY Psychiatrist, Correctional Health Services Day Tour EMTC

We are seeking a Psychiatrist to join our team at New York City Health + Hospitals Correctional Health Services. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, team-based psychiatric care to individuals incarcerated in the New York City jail system.
The Psychiatrist will work closely with security staff, medical staff, and other disciplines to provide safe, holistic, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for a diverse range of mental health issues.
Responsibilities include providing psychiatric care, consultation, and documentation, as well as participating in team meetings and creating individual treatment plans.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in correctional settings and the ability to work effectively with multiple disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Provide psychiatric care, including admission evaluations, follow-ups, and urgent and emergent consultations
- Consult with non-prescribing mental health staff and medical staff about diagnosis, treatment, and/or the need for psychiatric medication
- Participate in team meetings with treatment staff
- Regularly participate in the creation of individual treatment plans for patients
- Evaluate patients for the need for a higher level of care, including hospitalizations
- Document all activities in the electronic medical record in a timely, concise, and clear manner
- Provide clinical supervision as needed for psychiatric nurse practitioners and physician assistants
- Engage in weekly clinical supervision with Psychiatric leadership
