POSITION SUMMARY
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Medication Care Supervisor plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding care and services by ensuring the safe and organized administration of medications and treatments.
This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including the administration of medications, meticulous documentation, conducting health assessments, and providing compassionate resident care, all while upholding Sunrise Senior Living's mission to enhance the quality of life for seniors in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Medication Administration:
- Deliver high-quality care by administering medications and treatments in a safe and organized manner.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Daily Log to capture important resident information.
- Collaborate with the Resident Care Director (RCD) or Wellness Nurse to stay updated on medication changes.
- Administer and monitor medications for residents, adhering to the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
- Ensure timely medication administration and complete documentation for any refusals or missed doses.
- Uphold confidentiality of resident information and report any concerns to the RCD or Wellness Nurse.
- Restock and maintain medication carts and treatment areas.
- Assess residents for the need for 'as needed' medications and document appropriately.
- Conduct narcotic counts with another Medication Care Manager or Lead Care Manager during each shift.
- Practice good hygiene and cleanliness standards in all care activities.
Resident Care:
- Communicate any resident or family concerns to the RCD promptly.
- Participate actively in daily team meetings to discuss resident care.
- Conduct health assessments as directed by the RCD.
- Contribute to the development and updates of Individualized Service Plans (ISP) and Individualized Care Plans (ICP).
Safety and Compliance:
- Work collaboratively with the community team to ensure adherence to safety regulations.
- Follow safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Report any accidents or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Comply with infection control practices and hazardous material disposal procedures.
Team Collaboration:
- Engage as an active team member, striving toward collective goals.
- Embody the Team Member Credo in all interactions.
- Participate in ongoing training and meetings as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current LPN or LVN license as per state/provincial regulations.
- Maintain necessary certifications, including CPR and First Aid.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Prior experience in senior care is preferred.
- Strong desire to serve and care for seniors.
- Ability to make informed decisions in the best interest of residents.
- Calm demeanor in challenging situations and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
