Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as a Forensic Nurse Specialist. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals who have been sexually assaulted or otherwise impacted by violence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Takes a thorough medical history and account of the assault from the patient, assessing their psychological condition and performing a physical examination.
  • Collects and preserves all evidence, collects relevant specimens, and documents findings.
  • Provides direct nursing care of injuries and prophylactic medications, referring to appropriate personnel/facility for further treatment as necessary.
  • Communicates with victims and their families regarding evidence collection, treatment recommendations, and reporting to law enforcement in a manner that promotes informed decisions.
  • Provides victim advocacy and/or expert testimony in court trials.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Colorado
  • Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program
  • Completion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training within 3 months of hire
  • 1 year of RN experience or 6 months of experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife)
