About Our Team:
We are the Justice Information Technology Services (JITS) team, a vital part of the State of Montana. Our mission is to provide essential IT infrastructure that supports state and local law enforcement agencies. Our dynamic and collaborative team plays a crucial role in managing IT systems and services for approximately 900 employees and over 3,000 Criminal Justice Information Network (CJIN) users statewide.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a proficient IT Systems Administrator who possesses a robust technical foundation. This role involves enhancing our IT infrastructure through the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise servers, storage solutions, and networks. Ideal candidates will have a hands-on approach and a passion for problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Manage Enterprise IT Systems:** Develop comprehensive plans and system requirements to implement and oversee IT systems that support operational needs.
- **Lead and Collaborate:** Mentor junior IT engineers and work collaboratively to resolve technical challenges within the team.
- **Enhance Processes:** Continuously seek opportunities to streamline and improve operational processes.
- **Document and Report:** Maintain thorough documentation and foster teamwork to ensure effective communication across diverse IT systems.

Desired Qualifications:
- Strong foundational knowledge of computer hardware, including servers and networking.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing complex IT systems.
Minimum Requirements:
- Two years of education in Information Technology.
- Three years of relevant experience in a systems administrator role.
- Valid Driver License or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- Capability to lift and install computer hardware up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of computer science concepts, including systems and network administration.
- Experience with project management and planning.
- Proficiency in managing complex IT projects and resolving advanced technical issues.
