Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Activity Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing Therapeutic Recreation programs based on the assessed needs and interests of patients/residents on assigned units.
Key Responsibilities- Assess the problems, needs, and interests of every patient/resident and complete assessments on assigned units upon admission and annually.
- Develop treatment plans for every patient/resident based on assessment.
- Conduct age-appropriate, Therapeutic Recreation programs on assigned units addressing the needs and interests of patients/residents.
- Document patients/residents' progress in charts on a quarterly basis or as needed in progress notes and care plans.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a monthly schedule of therapeutic and leisure programs on assigned units and centrally.
- Submit monthly food, funding, and other needs for unit trips, unit birthday parties, etc.
- Coordinate and/or assist in the planning and implementation of special events.
- Attend departmental meetings and in-services, may be asked to conduct training sessions.

- Maintain monthly bulletin boards and calendars reflecting available therapeutic and leisure activities.
- Maintain and order supplies and equipment necessary for TR programs.
- Maintain and submit on a timely basis, program participation statistics for unit/central programs and special events.
- Submit all required departmental requests, e.g., video requests, out-trip referrals, and requests, staff statistic forms, etc., on a timely basis.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 18 credits in recreation, physical education, dance, fine arts, applied arts (including therapy), and 12 credits in psychology, social psychology, group work, group dynamics, and/or related field.
- One year of full-time experience in planning, coordinating, and supervising a recreation activities program in a hospital, healthcare, or related facility.
- Satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above.
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification.
