POSITION SUMMARY:


The Clinical Nurse Coordinator for Maternal Fetal Medicine plays a crucial role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the healthcare services offered by the Maternal Fetal Medicine division.

This position serves as a key provider and coordinator of nursing care for obstetric patients and their fetuses, particularly those identified as having a high-risk pregnancy.

Additionally, this role acts as a vital resource for patients and their families facing the complexities of a high-risk pregnancy.

Working collaboratively with perinatologists and obstetricians, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator employs assessment, planning, and intervention techniques to evaluate the clinical status of patients, utilizing patient history, diagnostic results, and symptom analysis throughout the pregnancy.

As necessary, this role communicates updates regarding patients' clinical conditions and test outcomes to patients, obstetric and maternal-fetal medicine providers, obstetric office personnel, perinatal sonographers, genetic counselors, and labor and delivery teams.

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator acts as a liaison, educator, and advocate for patients, ensuring that care aligns with individual patient needs, physician directives, and established health system policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required upon hire
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Prior experience in Labor, Delivery, or Antenatal care is essential
  • Fetal monitoring certification preferred (to be obtained within one year of hire)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including effective public speaking and presentation abilities
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and data management software preferred
  • Successful completion of orientation and competency validation during the probationary period
  • Demonstrated capability to set meaningful goals and develop actionable plans to achieve them.
  • Proven judgment, analytical skills, and clinical competency to provide age-appropriate patient care and manage critical situations effectively
  • Competency in delivering both physical and psychological care to patients
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with patients, families, and healthcare professionals in pursuit of excellence in patient care
  • Excellent leadership abilities to effectively guide nursing staff and coordinate patient care in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and departmental standards.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Active Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Membership in the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine or a similar professional organization is preferred
  • Maintenance of professional certification in obstetrics/EFM is required.
