Oncology Surgical Nurse

Position Overview:
The Oncology Surgical Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures related to cancer treatment. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care, ensuring that all nursing practices align with the Professional Nursing Law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect patient care, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to communicate changes in patient conditions and responses to treatment.
- Act as an advocate for patients and their families, addressing their needs throughout the healthcare experience.
- Participate in the orientation and training of new nursing staff, contributing to the growth of the nursing profession.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within three years of hire.
- Preferred specialty certification in relevant areas.
- Proficient in IV skills and current BLS certification.
- ACLS certification required in specialty areas within six months of hire.
- NRP and PALS certifications required within six months for specific departments.
- Fetal monitor certification preferred for labor and delivery within one to two years based on experience.
- Commitment to ongoing education, including annual stroke education and NIH certification as required.
- Flexibility to work alternate shifts as needed.
- Successful completion of orientation and competency validation during the probationary period.
Licensure Requirements:
Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is mandatory.
