Position Overview:


The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at The University of Kansas Health System is actively seeking a dedicated Board Certified/Board Eligible physiatrist for a full-time faculty role, with a focus on Neurologic Rehabilitation, including Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, or Stroke.

Candidates will be appointed at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor (tenure or non-tenure track) based on their qualifications and experience. All faculty members are expected to engage actively in our integrated residency program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.


Ideal candidates will demonstrate a keen interest in the medical management of rehabilitation for patients with neurologic injuries, including brain injury, spinal cord injury, and/or stroke, and possess procedural expertise in spasticity management.

Opportunities for electrodiagnostic procedures are available. Fellowship training in Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, or Spasticity is preferred but not mandatory.

Successful candidates will exhibit exceptional clinical skills and a strong commitment to education and research. Both clinical and basic science research initiatives are encouraged and supported, with access to laboratory facilities. Faculty members are required to participate actively in our integrated residency program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

This role includes conducting PM&R specialty clinics at various locations as designated by the department. Responsibilities will also encompass managing the inpatient rehabilitation unit service and providing inpatient consultation services.


Moreover, this position will involve teaching and engaging in scholarly activities, with collaboration across rehabilitation services and other departments being essential.

Key duties include lecturing to PM&R residents and students, as well as attending scheduled Grand Rounds. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Chair as necessary.
