Job Description and Duties

As a member of the Department of Fish and Wildlife team, you will have the opportunity to work in the beautiful Suisun Marsh, a vital habitat for a variety of wildlife species. Your role will involve collecting biological data on wildlife and plant populations to support the Suisun Marsh Plan and Suisun Marsh Preservation Agreement.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct small mammal trapping and vegetation surveys to monitor salt marsh harvest mice
  • Assist with elk surveys, bird surveys, and work at the hunter check station for Grizzly Island Wildlife Area during pheasant, elk, and waterfowl hunts
  • Collect and analyze data to support conservation efforts
Working Conditions:

Work irregular hours and varying workweek schedules to accommodate field work, which may include working on weekends. Field days can be 10-12 hours long and start early in the morning. Requires tolerating mosquitos, ticks, and inclement weather (heat or rain) and walking distances over uneven and flooded terrain. Ability to work on various small watercrafts (motorized and self-propelled [kayak]). Must possess a valid driver's license. Requires driving on both primitive rural and highly congested urban roads. Ability to sit and use a computer keyboard several hours a day.

Requirements:
