The Clinical Operations Supervisor works under the guidance of the Patient Care Manager/Director. This role involves collaboration with administrative personnel, nursing staff, physicians, and other members of the patient care team to uphold the standards of professional nursing practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates clinical proficiency and acts as a clinical resource for staff.
  • Takes charge of daily operations, including planning, organizing, and supervising care to ensure patient safety and quality service for the assigned shift/department.
  • Selects, inspires, and retains team members; implements a formal recognition program.
  • Facilitates departmental meetings and training sessions pertinent to the role. Engages in activities that promote personal and professional growth. Participates in designated hospital and/or unit-based councils.
  • Actively contributes to departmental performance improvement initiatives focusing on Quality, Safety, and Patient Experience. Guides and mentors staff in these initiatives.
  • Fosters an environment that encourages inquiry, innovative thinking, nursing education programs, and the development and application of evidence-based practices. Reviews staff performance, conducts annual evaluations, ensures staff competency, and initiates corrective actions when necessary.
  • Serves as a liaison with Clinical Risk Management, participating in event reviews, action planning, and resolution of complaints and grievances.
  • Maintains timely and effective communication with patients, families, multidisciplinary teams, ancillary departments, and management to identify and resolve issues that may affect positive patient outcomes.
  • Keeps departmental records for administrative and regulatory compliance.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit for up to 5 hours per day, with a maximum of 2 hours at a time. Capable of standing for up to 1 hour per day, and walking for up to 2 hours per day, with breaks as needed. Frequently uses hands for writing, typing, and handling charts. Occasionally engages in lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds. Must possess hearing acuity for normal conversations and visual acuity for general and near vision.

EDUCATION:

Registered Professional Nurse with a current license to practice in the state of Pennsylvania or New Jersey (depending on work location). A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred and must be obtained within 5 years of assuming the position.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of two years of direct clinical experience is preferred. Previous supervisory experience is also preferred. BLS certification is required.
