Job Overview

Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is seeking a Clinical Supervisor to join our team. As a Clinical Supervisor, you will play a key role in overseeing the provision and efficiency of clinical services for children in foster care. You will assist the Clinical Director in maintaining overall functioning and efficiency of trauma-informed, evidence-based clinical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and clinical supervision to Psychotherapists and Interns.
  • Identify strengths and abilities through individual and group therapies.
  • Collaborate closely with Clinical Director and Mental Health Administrators to ensure cohesiveness in workflows.
  • Use crisis plans and de-escalate the crisis and prevent or reduce future crises; provide crisis intervention when a child or youth is distressed.
  • Provide direct service including therapy, assessment and collateral support.
  • Follow-up with treatment team members to ensure that recommendations are implemented.
  • Play an important role in increasing cohesion, developing/enhancing programs internally and externally.
  • Utilize evidence-based models specific to youth needs. Participate in evidence-based, trauma-informed practice trainings and consultation calls when offered.
  • Triage and make assessments to determine youth's mental health needs (i.e., may refer to or follow up on recommended services, such as psychiatric evaluation, psychological evaluation, sexual abuse assessment, determination for higher level of care, substance abuse treatment, group/individual therapy, and/or family therapy).
  • Ensure clinical staff under their supervision submit departmental documentation and required reports in a timely manner including verification of licensure and required training.
  • Reviews all supervisees' progress notes for quality assurance, determine if notes qualify as billable and approves on the MH Task List/Electronic Health Record for billing.
  • Submit electronically signed, typed progress notes and reports in a timely manner through our Electronic Health Record (EHR). Required documentation includes screenings, progress notes, treatment plans (intake and quarterly), termination reports, and the individualized comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Assist with preparation for outside audits and Corrective Action Plans for the Mental Health department.
  • Serve as a liaison for mental health providers regarding various issues, such as concerns brought to attention by doctor, prioritizing clinical needs such as for an evaluation or medication review.
  • As-needed, act as a liaison and point of contact for contracted psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, casework team, residential staff, and external providers including hospitals and treatment facilities.
  • Along with the Clinical Director, Collaborate with HCM team and oversee and completes LPHA forms, Complex Trauma Assessments, and other specialized assessments.
  • Provide oversight and consultation of individual, family, and group therapy to children, adolescents, and their families in or discharged from foster care as needed.
  • Serve as liaison between clinical providers and other treatment team members.
  • Provide collateral contact with foster parents, birth parents, medical staff, casework staff, and county and state youth agencies to support clients' needs.
  • Represent the clinical staff in team meetings and case conferences as-needed to offer treatment recommendations and updates on the youth's progress towards treatment goals.
  • Represent clinical staff in meetings (i.e., Adoption, Red Flag, etc.) and agency trainings.
  • Represent mental health department at child welfare meetings when necessary.
  • Provide oversight to clinical internship opportunities for students from local universities and colleges.
Qualifications
  • Experience and knowledge of addictions and psychiatric diagnosis preferred.
  • Precious experience working in the field of foster care, CFTSS, 29i, clinical psychology or related mental health services preferred.
  • At least 1-year of previous experience supervising.
  • NYS LCSW, LCSW-R, or Licensed Psychologist (Psy.D. or Ph.D.).
  • Excellent computer skills required.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Experience with trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy models preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
  • SIFI certified is also preferred, but if not, applicant can obtain SIFI certification once part of the team.
  • Certification in/use of Evidence Based models preferred.
