Position Overview

The initial compensation for this role starts at $16.75/hour, contingent upon qualifications and relevant experience exceeding the minimum criteria. This is a flexible position averaging 20-29 hours per week.

Biltmore Estate Security Operations Specialists play a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of visitors, staff, assets, and property, while enhancing the exceptional guest service experience that Biltmore is renowned for. Responsibilities may differ based on specific assignments and locations, and may encompass: offering assistance in a courteous and professional manner; providing security and emergency response services for designated areas; supporting staff, guests, and vendors; and managing access control for collections, secured sites, and other valuable assets. Additionally, Security Operations Specialists will extend general assistance and support to leadership, the department, and the organization as necessary.

Qualifications:

1. A high school diploma is required. Relevant training or certifications are advantageous. Must possess or be able to obtain AED, CPR, and First Aid certification.
2. A minimum of one (1) year of related experience in guest services, safety, security, or a comparable field is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in safety/security within attractions, hospitality, or upscale hotel/resort settings with a focus on guest service.
3. A demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional internal and external guest service.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal). Ability to compose and complete reports in standard English. Knowledge of a second language is beneficial.
5. The ability to assess situations accurately and exercise sound judgment is essential.
6. Must be proactive and take initiative when appropriate; capable of troubleshooting and managing various guest and employee situations in a professional manner.
7. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a dynamic guest service team.
8. Must quickly acquire knowledge of Biltmore's systems and protocols.
9. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt as needed.
10. Attention to detail is critical.

Physical Requirements: This position requires a physical examination at the Biltmore Clinic prior to employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of this examination.

1. The incumbent will work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions with temperature fluctuations.
2. The incumbent will be required to stand and walk for extended periods.
3. The incumbent must be able to physically assist guests and employees as necessary.
4. The incumbent should be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and may need to lift/pull/push up to 100 pounds with assistance.
5. The incumbent must possess normal sensory acuity and be able to respond to multiple stimuli simultaneously.
6. A valid NC Driver's License with a clean driving record is required, and the candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
7. The ability to view computer screens for extended periods is necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

1. The officer must be thoroughly familiar with Biltmore and its grounds, including adjacent areas, and access/key control procedures; knowledgeable about alarm systems and emergency protocols; and possess general troubleshooting skills related to security systems.
2. Accurately document events impacting security and safety. Responsible for writing and completing reports in accordance with established protocols.
3. Conduct patrols of assigned areas as required.
4. The officer must respond appropriately to various threats, including severe weather and fire hazards, and understand the procedures to follow during emergencies.
5. Provide exceptional internal and external service to guests, staff, and vendors.
6. Assist estate residents as needed.
