Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Parkland Health and Hospital System. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for performing nuclear medicine processes according to patient needs, Parkland procedures, and regulatory agency standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform nuclear medicine procedures, including imaging and therapeutic treatments, to diagnose and treat various medical conditions.
- Operate Gamma cameras, including SPECT/CT and PET/CT scanners, nuclear medicine computers, and Cardiac Stress equipment.
- Administer intramuscular and intravenous injections and start intravenous lines as needed.
- Confer with physicians to determine appropriate procedures and ensure effective operations.
- Document all operations of the laboratory, including receipt and disposition of radioactive materials, instrument and procedural quality control data, patient procedures, and medical records.
- Exercise judgment in the performance of scheduled examinations and procedures to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
- Identify ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction.
- Make recommendations to management, implement, and monitor results as appropriate to support the overall goals and mission of Parkland.
- Provide clinical instructions for Radiology students and residents to ensure that all healthcare providers are well-informed of radiologic information.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with coworkers, physicians, nurses, residents, and patients to ensure interdepartmental cooperation and an efficient flow of information.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the nuclear medicine field by attending seminars or workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and integrating this knowledge as appropriate into the job.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited college program in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Science, or other allied health care field.
- Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from the Texas Medical Board.
- Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Nuclear Medicine (N) or CNMT within 6 months of hire.
- Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card or obtain certification during initial orientation at Parkland from one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross Rescuer, or Military Training Network.
