Position Overview

As a vital member of the surgical team, you will oversee the daily operations of the surgical suites, ensuring that all procedures are conducted efficiently and safely. Your leadership will contribute to a cohesive service line team that enhances the overall surgical experience for both physicians and patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership: Direct and manage shift operations, including staff scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Surgical Preparation: Ensure the surgical operating suite is equipped with both sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
  • Assistance During Procedures: Support surgeons by providing necessary instruments and supplies, and assist with hemostasis as required.
  • Patient Management: Aid in the preparation, transportation, positioning, and draping of patients prior to surgery.
  • Instrument Management: Maintain an organized system for instruments and monitor instrument counts throughout surgical procedures.
  • Staff Development: Conduct orientation and training for new staff members, and provide input for performance evaluations.
Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • One of the following credentials is required:
    • Licensed Registered Nurse from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or a valid multi-state license.
    • Certified First Surgical Assistant from recognized authorities.
    • Surgical Technologist credentialed by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
  • Preferred: Central Service Technician specializing in Sterile Processing certification.

Education:

  • High School diploma with 2 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's/Technical degree with 1 year of experience, or 5 years of applicable job-specific experience.
