Position Overview:

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Compliance Specialist at Modern Space plays a pivotal role in collaborating with operational leadership to cultivate a proactive safety culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with site leaders to promote safe practices and foster a strong safety culture among all employees.
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain policies and programs to ensure adherence to EH&S regulations.
  • Work alongside HR to review incident reports, conduct thorough investigations, and assist in maintaining OSHA logs.
  • Oversee employee return-to-work programs following injuries, ensuring a smooth transition back to their roles.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local safety regulations, advising management on necessary compliance actions.
  • Manage and update employee safety programs, including the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and prepare compliance reports for regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers to ensure all safety requirements are met.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of EH&S programs, ensuring timely compliance with testing and regulatory deadlines.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, including training and equipment management.
  • Partner with hiring managers to investigate incidents, identify root causes, and recommend preventive measures.
  • Serve as a key resource for leadership in shaping safety training and best practices.
  • Facilitate necessary training sessions for employees and managers.
  • Implement strategies to minimize environmental impact through sustainable practices.
  • Manage the EH&S budget, including vendor selection to meet operational needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, safety, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in employee safety and health.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Certification as a CSP/CIH is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of EH&S regulations.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High level of computer proficiency.
  • Experience in data analysis and interpretation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Capability to bend, stretch, push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with manual dexterity.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours as required.
