Role Responsibilities
The Fire Safety Engineering Specialist will be responsible for:
  • Providing fire safety engineering design and production support from project initiation to completion.
  • Executing projects utilizing both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build methodologies.
  • Offering technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Reviewing the work of other fire safety engineers to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Estimating design efforts and providing technical expertise during negotiations with architectural firms and contractors.
  • Addressing contractor submissions and requests for information (RFIs).
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 5+ years of experience in fire safety design and evaluation for new and existing facilities.
  • Professional registration as a Licensed Fire Protection Engineer in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fire protection responsibilities, including fire alarm systems, water-based suppression systems, and special hazard design.
  • A Final DoD Secret clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The candidate should demonstrate:
  • Extensive knowledge of NFPA, ICC, and UFC codes.
  • Experience in construction management, scheduling, and cost estimation.
  • Competence in developing complete construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with field inspections and reviewing installed components.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other design software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • A willingness to travel as required.
