Mining Fixed Plant Expert Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mining Fixed Plant Expert to join our team at Sparrow Inc in Nashville, TN. This role will report directly to the Senior Director of OSS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze plant productivity issues and develop plans for improvement.
  • Examine current maintenance practices and create corrective action plans for enhancements.
  • Assist in fixed plant equipment failure root cause analysis and repair.
  • Organize and schedule process improvement teams to identify and improve plant efficiencies.
  • Coordinate and schedule equipment training for plant personnel.
  • Build strong relationships with plant operations personnel and vendors who design, install, and maintain crushing plants and equipment.
  • Analyze aggregate fixed plant financials and their impact on departmental budgets relative to plant improvements.
  • Manage and update fixed plant maintenance databases.
  • Extensive overnight travel is required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mining engineering, mechanical engineering, geological engineering, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • 15 years of experience in the mining industry, preferably in construction materials (limestone, sandstone, granite, sand, and gravel).
  • Possess extensive knowledge of operation and maintenance of aggregate equipment (crushers, screens, sand processing equipment, conveyors, etc.) and new technologies.
  • Experience in managing large and small mining operations and excelling at managing costs and improving throughput.
  • Proven track record of applying process improvement methodologies to production processes (i.e., Six Sigma, TQM, etc.).
  • Strong preventative maintenance background of fixed plant components.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to use AggFlow and other analysis tools to identify bottlenecks and devise solutions.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with plant management and engineering.
