Job Summary

As a Radiology Technologist-CT at King's Daughters, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by applying x-ray energy and computer processing techniques to assist in diagnosis or treatment. You will perform computed tomography and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomical images for interpretation by licensed practitioners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify orders and patient information prior to examination, obtain patient's clinical history, and communicate with patients or family members as needed.
  • Operate computed tomographic equipment and accessories, demonstrating knowledge and competency in CT techniques, including medical center, radiology, and CT policies, scanner manuals, safety table/gantry operation, scanning procedures, image storage retrieval, image manipulations, image processing, and contrast media administration.
  • Perform examinations by analyzing relative information to select proper scanning protocols, editing scan protocols as needed to facilitate diagnostic value, positioning patients to best demonstrate anatomic areas of interest, and accommodating patient ability, comfort, and modesty.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality, manipulate display parameters, and provide CDs with proper patient identification recorded on each image.
  • Practice principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others at all times.
  • Identify and administer contrast media as prescribed by licensed practitioners, perform diagnostic testing on equipment, and report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors or radiology administrative directors.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited radiography program or equivalent.
  • Maintain active certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
  • Maintain active Radiographer Operators Certificate (ROC) in the Commonwealth of Kentucky or other applicable states as needed.
  • Achieve and maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Advanced ARRT certification in CT.
Working Environment

Constantly works near moving mechanical parts, exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection, and occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

Occasionally required to maintain a stationary position (standing or sitting), frequently required to walk and move about, operate a computer and other equipment, and use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices. Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds, frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds, and occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
