About the Role: We are currently seeking a Consumer Loan Underwriting Specialist to join our successful team.
This role will, under general supervision while adhering to established policies and procedures, be responsible for providing administrative support to the underwriting, processing, closing, post-closing, and servicing functions of the Consumer Lending Department.
Education & Experience:
A high school diploma or GED is required.
Experience:
Three to five years of relevant experience
Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or
Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
Responsibilities:
A typical day for a Consumer Loan Underwriting Specialist will involve:
Evaluating consumer loans up to the assigned limit per credit union policies, which includes reviewing and analyzing tax returns, pay stubs, interest rate calculations, the borrower's creditworthiness, ability, and willingness to repay, and making recommendations to the VP of Consumer Lending regarding rate structures, loan terms, policies, and procedures as necessary.
Ensuring that all required documentation has been submitted; following up and requesting any missing information; analyzing the information collected based on credit union policy; reconciling income, appraisal values, credit histories, and determining the terms and conditions of the loan.
Executing processing functions such as calculating debt-to-income ratios, loan-to-value ratios, document preparation, loan disbursement, and reconciliation.
Performing servicing duties as required, including scanning, title and UCC tracking and recording, insurance verifications, and payoff requests.Additional Comments - Benefits:
