Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education's Division of State Schools is seeking an experienced Property and Supply Supervisor to oversee the purchasing, receiving, storing, and distribution of property and supplies. The successful candidate will manage the warehouse/supply area, including purchasing, receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, as well as maintaining property and inventory control for an agency/facility.

Description of Duties

  • Conduct physical inventories of property.
  • Receive new property, including unpacking, inspection, and delivery.
  • Establish and maintain automated and manual filing/inventory systems.
  • Complete and process appropriate paperwork/documentation, such as Equipment Status Change Form/Transfer Form and Invoice, on all property/equipment.
  • Help identify surplus property, complete surplus property transfer forms, and related data entry.
  • Take steps to assure disposal of surplus property.
  • Direct or arrange for repairs of property.
  • Receive requisitions, note supplies and equipment needed, and fill purchase request orders for various departments.
  • Make purchases authorized by the supervisor using purchase order and/or purchasing card.
  • Manage purchasing card in accordance with Department of Education and Georgia Academy for the Blind policies and procedures.
  • Notify supervisor of out-of-stock items.
  • Fleet management, including repairs/fueling, preparing for annual bus inspections.
  • Maintain travel request and bus manifesto of all student-related trips.
  • Ensure that travel request for state vehicles, manifesto, and necessary forms are on file.
  • Collect mail from office and deliver to school receptionist for distribution, deliver U.S. mail to Post Office, and deliver Overnight packages for delivery.
  • Maintain the emergency evacuation packages are always current and easily accessible.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess the following:

  • Two years of college and 5 years of experience performing general office work, including duties such as administrative support, automated communication equipment usage, computer usage, and/or business management, inventory.

Associate degree in accounting, business, or a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of job-related experience in inventory, purchasing, or supply chain management, which includes one year (1) of experience as a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role; or Technical diploma in accounting or business and three (3) years of job-related experience in inventory, purchasing, or supply chain management which includes one year (1) of experience in a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role; or High School diploma/GED and four (4) years of job-related experience in inventory, purchasing, or supply chain management which includes two (2) years as a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role; or Two years of experience at the lower level Purchasing Agent 3 (FET042) or equivalent position.
