The Ambulatory Care Nurse plays a crucial role in supporting the healthcare team in preventing illness and injury, promoting wellness, and providing comfort to patients and their families.

This role involves delivering direct, age-appropriate care in accordance with medical directives and a collaborative, multidisciplinary care plan. Additionally, the nurse will safely administer prescribed medications while monitoring for any potential interactions or contraindications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize clinical skills and knowledge to meet the needs of patients and their families.
  • Support the healthcare team in illness prevention, wellness maintenance, and comfort provision.
  • Provide guidance, education, and begin to take on leadership roles within the unit.
  • Deliver direct, age-appropriate care based on medical directives and a collaborative care plan.
  • Safely administer prescribed medications, monitoring for any potential interactions.
  • Accurately document all care provided in patient records.

Requirements:

  • Current LPN Licensure in Virginia or eligibility for licensure.
  • AHA BLS Certification or equivalent.
  • Experience requirements may vary based on specific duties.
  • Preferred experience as an LPN in an acute care environment or relevant practice area.
  • Graduate from a Board of Nursing approved School of Practical Nursing.
