Key Responsibilities:
Summary:
This position involves overseeing food service operations within a correctional environment, ensuring the custody, care, and management of inmates or detainees assigned to Food Service tasks. You will monitor and enforce adherence to the company's and contracting agency's rules, regulations, and policies.
Primary Duties:
- Supervise detainees assigned to Food Services, guiding them in food preparation, sanitation, and cleanup.
- Coordinate and monitor inmate movements, conduct counts, and provide emergency responses as necessary.
- Conduct searches for contraband materials, either individually or as part of a specialized team, and confiscate items in accordance with facility policies.
- Initiate disciplinary reports for detainees/inmates as required.
- Prepare reports and maintain daily logs as mandated.
- Provide prompt assistance to inmates/detainees in cases of injury, illness, or emotional distress.
- Promote safety and cleanliness within the facility and report maintenance needs.
- Participate as a member of special teams to respond to emergencies when required.
- Complete necessary training courses as outlined by facility standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent certification is required.
- Successful completion of required training courses as per GEO and facility standards, including ACA training.
- Experience in food service operations, particularly in commercial or institutional meal preparation, is preferred.
- College coursework or advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services, or related fields is advantageous.
- Possession of applicable state requisites for employment.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Capability to manage physical and mental stress associated with extended hours.
- Regular and punctual attendance is essential.
- Ability to remain alert during assigned shifts.
- Willingness to work up to sixteen (16) hours within a rolling 24-hour period.
- Experience in a correctional setting is preferred.
- Possession of a valid state driver's license may be required.
- Must demonstrate maturity, flexibility, and the ability to earn the respect and confidence of inmates and staff.
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Willingness to undergo a thorough background investigation as mandated by U.S. Marshals.
