Research University Practice
Our Research Universities Practice (RUP) is dedicated to enhancing and diversifying sponsored research activities for R1 and R2 classified institutions. We adopt a comprehensive approach, offering support across four key service areas: Strategic Intelligence, Research Development, Capacity Building, and Government Relations. This multifaceted strategy enables universities to compete for current and future funding opportunities that serve the national interest.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior leadership with client and project management, ensuring accurate record-keeping through internal systems.
- Identify relevant grant opportunities that meet client needs, including:
- Researching federal and foundation grants.
- Engaging with Program Officers at various agencies.
- Summarizing grant opportunities in clear written formats.
- Analyzing characteristics of successful awardees to enhance client competitiveness.
- Investigating institutional funding priorities to pinpoint grant prospects.
- Participating in client meetings to understand their grant-seeking interests.
- Conducting in-depth research on trends and priorities related to specific clients and funding programs.
- Analyzing federal legislation pertinent to science, technology, and other client interests.
- Maintaining knowledge of relevant federal and foundation grant programs across multiple agencies.
- Delivering high-quality work products, including:
- Forecasting reports on federal and foundation grants.
- Comprehensive analyses for individual grant competitions.
- Supporting the organization of client leadership meetings and agendas.
- Taking notes during meetings and distributing them afterward.
- Assisting in the development of communications for funding requests.
- Coordinating legislative meetings and liaising with congressional staff as needed.
- Contributing to business development efforts, including:
- Drafting and revising pitch materials.
- Scheduling and coordinating meetings with potential clients.
- Maintaining a proactive and solutions-oriented approach in all client interactions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 1-3 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in federal grant seeking.
- Strong writing, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Capability to synthesize complex information effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
Compensation and Benefits
- Standard work hours are Monday through Friday.
