Job Summary

As a Design Engineer at SPX, you will play a crucial role in preparing detailed drawings, wiring schematics, and technical documentation for the manufacturing of industrial and commercial electrical heating equipment. This involves producing routings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing instructions for complex products. You will work closely with the product development team on design and process improvement projects, providing technical assistance to design engineers, technicians, and shop floor personnel as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Documentation: Prepare detailed drawings and wiring schematics for parts to be manufactured. Produce routings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing instructions for complex products.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with the product development department on various design and process improvement projects. Provide technical assistance to other design engineers, design technicians, and shop floor personnel as required. Offer support to the sales department in the preparation of customer quotes.
  • Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with the manufacturing, purchasing, and sales departments to support and ensure the successful completion of customer orders.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in the latest versions of 3D modeling software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and design to UL, CSA, and FM safety standards.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and heating principles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in preparing technical drawings, wiring schematics, and manufacturing documentation.
