Physical Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist to join our team at Rebecca School, a developmental program that utilizes the DIRFloortime method. As a Physical Therapist, you will play a vital role in the success of our students, developing treatment plans and goals to improve functional abilities and enhance their ability to learn.
Responsibilities:- Deliver physical therapy services to students with special needs, including administering pediatric physical therapy assessments to determine a student's level of function in areas such as fine/gross motor skill development, sensory motor integration, self-care, and activities of daily living.
- Prepare written assessment and reports identifying the student's needs and proposed treatment strategies, goals, and objectives; maintain progress records.
- Provide students with individual treatment and group therapy sessions to correct specific areas of sensory motor integrative dysfunction and social/emotional issues.
- Educate team members on facilitation of implemented techniques or modalities, such as brushing, deep pressure, vibration, oral motor, feeding, HWT, etc.
- Monitor therapy and educational staff trained to incorporate appropriate physical therapy treatment strategies into instruction; evaluate effectiveness of the established program and make modifications within the PT framework of the DIR model.
- Collaborate and coordinate physical therapy goals with instruction; communicate with parents or guardians through conferences and other means to discuss student progress.
- Maintain professional competence by attending staff development programs and continuing education programs.
- Participate in weekly Greenspan meetings, team meetings, and staff training.
- Master's Degree
- License to practice Physical Therapy in NYS
- State Certification
- Knowledge of DIRFloortime is preferred, but not required
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with students, staff, and parents
