Job Summary

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Volunteer Reserve Deputies. As a Reserve Deputy, you will have the opportunity to serve your community and gain valuable experience in law enforcement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in patrol assignments and provide security and traffic control for special events
  • Assist in agency internal training and provide assistance to departments throughout the agency
  • Effect arrests, forcibly if necessary, using handcuffs and other restraints
  • Prepare investigative and other reports, sketches, and drawings
  • Communicate effectively and coherently over law enforcement radio channels
Requirements
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Pass Pre-employment Questionnaire, oral board interview, in-depth background investigation, polygraph exam, psychological assessment, and medical exam
  • Current first aid and community CPR certificates required
  • No felony convictions or convictions involving Domestic Violence
  • No use of illegal drugs within the past five years
Training and Development

Successful candidates will attend the POST Reserve Academy sponsored by the Sheriff's Office, which provides classroom instruction and basic skills training in firearms, driving, and arrest control techniques.

Time Commitment

The time commitment of an LCSO Reserve Deputy can have an impact on your life and family. The program requires volunteers to participate in a minimum of 20 hours per month of patrol ride-along, monthly meetings and training, and completion of various administrative tasks.
