Job Summary

The Inventory Associate position provides professional and academic support related to the daily operations for the stockroom in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. This role ensures continuous operation of all related to purchasing, warehouse operations, customer service, shipping, receiving, inventory control, hazardous waste collection, record keeping on campus deliveries and other materials management duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor inventory levels to identify inventory requiring replacement.
  • Receive, monitor, and track inventory.
  • Prepare daily, monthly, or annual inventory expense reports.
  • Maintain the inventory stockroom in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Provide administrative assistance by answering telephone, greeting departmental visitors, meeting vendors, and making deliveries.
  • Participate in staff meetings, committees, and special projects.
  • May provide information regarding ordering procedures and types of supplies, inventory, and equipment available for use.
  • Evaluate all processes and procedures and make recommendations for improvements to increase efficiency of the operation.
  • Continuously improve the organization of required inventory.
  • Perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 24 months experience in inventory control and/or material management, procurement, or closely related experience.
Preferred Skills
  • Working knowledge of an inventory control system.
  • Ability to prepare reports in a timely manner.
  • Ability to monitor and track shipment of equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Customer service and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand for prolonged periods.
  • Communicate effectively and listen.
  • Reach, stoop, bend, and walk.
  • Use of a computer and calculator.
  • Lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Standard Office Environment.
  • Exposure to dust and inclement weather.
