Job Summary

This Registered Nurse position supports the providers for the Transplant Cellular Therapy clinic, working Monday through Friday. Responsibilities include coordinating patient care, educating patients, and assessing their condition. We prefer experienced BMT oncology RNs.

Job Duties
  • Maintains adequate stock of supplies as required for work area and ensures a safe and secure environment to meet patient needs.
  • Facilitates patient scheduling for all tests and visits, completes billing for nursing procedures, and prepares equipment for physical exams and medical procedures.
  • Takes and records patient vital signs, inspects equipment and facilities for proper functioning, and obtains specimens ordered by physicians.
  • Documents nursing assessment, patient care interventions, and education in medical records and ensures patient consents and authorizations are obtained.
  • Triages patient phone inquiries according to physician and departmental protocols and documents results in patient medical records.
  • Participates in evaluating nursing needs of patients, assesses problems affecting patients, recommends policy and procedural changes, and schedules appointments and tests.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program with a current Texas (or BNE Compact State) nursing license and Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • One year of RN experience preferred, with a BSN degree also highly desirable.
