UNC Health Care seeks a skilled Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our emergency department, you will provide crisis intervention, psychosocial assessments, and mental health support to individuals and families in need.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with emergency department staff to assess and address psychiatric patients' needs.
- Facilitate involuntary commitment processes as directed by medical professionals.
- Ensure patient safety and provide support for behavioral health patients.
- Refer patients to community resources and support services as needed.
- Engage patients and families in the assessment and planning process, educating them on care options.
- Investigate level of care and financial resources to inform treatment plans.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in social work, counseling, or a related field.
- Current BCLS certification.
- CPI certification within 90 days of hire.
- Licensure in the state of North Carolina.
- 5 years of experience in crisis counseling or mental health counseling.
Work with a diverse team to improve the health and well-being of our communities.
