Licensed Veterinary Technician

As a Licensed Veterinary Technician, you'll play a vital role in our emergency and urgent care services, working alongside our experienced veterinarians to provide top-notch care to dogs, cats, exotics, and small pocket pets in the San Antonio area.
Key Responsibilities:- Support veterinarians in ensuring quality veterinary care, advocating for pets, and educating clients.
- Assist with hospital functions to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
- Triage emergency patients and monitor hospitalized patients.
- Perform patient laboratory tests and nursing care, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and radiographic positioning.
- Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
- Maintain relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
- Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- 2+ years of experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/RVT/CVT).
- Exceptional technical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and radiographic positioning, drug calculations, administer medications and fluids.
- Ability to handle, lift, and restrain animals (dogs, cats, pocket pets, etc.) and stand for long periods of time.
- Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology.
- Organizational and computer skills.
- Willingness to work weekends, overnights, and holidays.
