About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at the Outpatient Surgery Center of Asheville. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain medical equipment for surgical procedures, ensuring it is in good working order and properly sterilized.
  • Assist in the preparation of the operating room, setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
  • Follow hospital regulations and industry procedures to ensure patient safety and comfort during pre-operation procedures.
  • Perform pre-operation preparations to the patient's skin, body, and medical equipment, ensuring a safe and sterile environment.
  • Assemble and adjust both sterile and non-sterile equipment, checking it to ensure it is functioning properly.
  • Transport patients to the operating room, help position them on the operating table, and cover them with sterile surgical drapes.
  • Observe patients' vital signs, check charts, and assist the surgical team with putting on sterile gowns and gloves.
  • Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants, ensuring a smooth and efficient surgical process.
  • Hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Operate sterilizers, lights, or suction machines, and help operate diagnostic equipment, as needed.
  • After an operation, help transfer patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room.
Requirements
  • A graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program, technical program, or related field.
  • Must be certified to perform CPR with 0-2 years of clinical experience in a related field.
Working Conditions

Surgical technologists work in clean, well-lighted, cool environments. Must stand for long periods and remain alert during operations. At times may be exposed to communicable diseases and unpleasant sights, odors, and materials.
