UT Health Science Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our Surgical / Orthopedic Trauma Clinic team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, conduct complex patient assessments, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with our faculty supervising physicians.
Key Responsibilities- Conducts complex patient assessments and develops treatment plans in collaboration with faculty supervising physicians.
- Provides advanced nursing care to patients in a surgical setting, including performing minor surgical procedures as delegated by the supervising physician.
- Coordinates and directs patient care, including managing pre-operative and post-operative patients.
- Orders, conducts, and interprets laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures.
- Makes medical recommendations and/or referrals as needed.
- Formulates, implements, and evaluates outcome-based treatment plans.
- Maintains accurate and detailed records of patient treatment plans and outcomes.
- Provides patient education on medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion or postsurgical care.
- Collaborates with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in patient recovery.
- Responds to emergency situations as needed.
- Current Texas licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Texas licensure as an APRN - NP.
- Current RN First Assist Certification and specialty certification as required by department.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or specialty certification as required by department.
- Masters in Nursing as NP or Masters degree in Nursing with completion of a post-masters Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.
- None; previous experience in a surgical specialty is preferred.
This position requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
