About the Role

Parker Aerospace is a global leader in motion and control technologies, and we're seeking a talented Materials Scientist to join our team.

As a Materials Scientist, you will be responsible for researching, analyzing, designing, and testing component parts, processes, or systems to develop new and/or improve core products. You will apply materials engineering principles based on assigned engineering domain (e.g. mechanical; electrical, chemical, etc) to ensure that design objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and conduct materials investigations within the Materials Control Lab for production lot approvals, special process approvals and materials and engineering investigations that support product or process engineering functions.
  • Perform feasibility and trade studies applying standard materials engineering analytical methods; recommend solutions which are defined and reviewed for implementation.
  • Interpret and validate test results for accuracy and precision; ensure conformance to product qualification procedures and parameters to achieve customer and product reliability and safety standards.
  • Provide technical information for review with product engineering teams using established materials engineering practices, standards, and documentation methods.
  • Contribute to the completion milestones associated with specific projects; review product specifications to ensure clarity, completeness, form, fit, function, and conformity to standards and procedures.
  • Maintain current level of professional and technical knowledge by attending, reviewing technical publications, and/or participating in professional associations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) (or Professional Engineer (PE) certificate) in an engineering or science technical discipline.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Ability to perform hands on metallurgical laboratory cross sectioning of metallic components, mounting, grinding/polishing and etching to reveal metallurgical microstructures.
  • Has working knowledge of materials engineering domain principles and techniques, product functionality, industry practices, regulations, and policies.
