Position Overview:

The Special Education Teacher, guided by the Special Education Program Administrator, is dedicated to delivering exceptional educational services to students with special needs, spanning from kindergarten through grade 12. This role emphasizes collaboration in the development and execution of tailored student programs, which include specialized instruction, tutoring support, and consultation with general education colleagues.

Role Details:

Contract Duration: 24-25 School Year

Weekly Hours: 37.5 hours/week (Times vary by school)

Compensation: $42.00/hour

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develops individualized education plans in collaboration with parents and team members.
  • Facilitates learning for students with diverse learning, emotional, and physical challenges.
  • Creates instructional materials that align with the general education curriculum.
  • Collaborates with parents, administrators, and specialists to enhance students' educational and social development.
  • Prepares classrooms and materials for effective learning experiences.
  • Coordinates the implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) with general education staff.
  • Monitors student progress and participates in IEP reviews.
  • Keeps accurate records of student performance.
  • Mentors teaching assistants who support students with disabilities.
  • Assists students in transitioning between grades and developing life skills.
  • Evaluates students' skills and educational needs.
  • Maintains positive communication with students and their families.
  • Adheres to school district policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Valid state teaching certification as mandated by regulations.
  • Preferred experience of at least one year in an educational setting.
  • Various state teaching certifications and endorsements preferred.
  • Complies with professional standards and participates in required training.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English required.
  • Proficient in computer use.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
