The Educational Diagnostician plays a critical role in ensuring the success of students with special needs by working closely with the Special Programs team, regional leaders, campus leaders, parents, and Special Education and General Education teachers. This position requires a deep understanding of assessment, eligibility for Special Education, academic and behavioral interventions, state and federal legal frameworks for Special Education, and compliance with Special Education legislation.
Key Responsibilities- Support Special Education Teachers: Collaborate with special education teachers to develop appropriate IEP academic, behavioral, and social goals.
- Compliance and Record-Keeping: Ensure 100% compliance in Annual ARDs and submit all paperwork in a timely manner.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work with Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and other related and Instructional Service Personnel to ensure completion of all ARD paperwork in a timely manner.
- Record Maintenance: Follow correct procedures for maintaining records and services.
- Critical Student Instruction: Establish and execute Critical Student Instruction groups with fidelity at campuses.
- 504 Support: Provide support to 504 campus coordinators with manifestation determinations, 504 meeting requirements, 504 eligibility determination, Homebound, and Manifestation Determination.
- Dyslexia Evaluations: Conduct dyslexia evaluations for 504 students.
- Academic and Behavioral Interventions: Guide campuses in tracking and documenting academic and behavioral interventions in TIER I, TIER II, and TIER III.
- Multidisciplinary Evaluations: Conduct multidisciplinary evaluations for Full and Individual Evaluations for all Non-Speech only students, Non-Autism, and Non-Emotional Disturbance students who are referred for 1 or more eligibility categories.
- Evaluation Tools and Standards: Adhere to most up-to-date evaluation tools and standards as stipulated in the American Psychological Association Testing Standards.
- College Board Accommodations: Conduct evaluations as needed for student College Board accommodations.
- Functional Behavioral Assessments: Help campuses conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and ensure that campuses are employing a problem-solving model for students in Tiers II and III.
- Master's Degree: Master's degree in Special Education or Education from an accredited college or university.
- Texas Educational Diagnostician Certificate: Texas Educational Diagnostician Certificate is required.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a campus Educational Diagnostician is preferred.
