Position Overview:
The Multi-Spindle Lathe Technician plays a crucial role in supporting various machining operations and executing a range of skilled and semi-skilled tasks within the manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities:


The following key functions represent the core responsibilities of operating multi-spindle lathes and inspecting components according to engineering specifications and quality control standards.

Operates manual screw machines equipped with automatic indexing and feeding systems to process metal bar stock.

Interprets job instructions and technical drawings for product specifications, including dimensions, tolerances, production quantities, and tooling guidelines such as cutting speeds, feed rates, and required cutting tools.

Positions and secures designated collets, bushings, and stock pushers onto the feeding mechanism and loads bar stock accordingly.

If necessary, installs and adjusts specific cams, gears, and stops to regulate stock and tool movements at each operational station.
If required, positions and secures tools in holders; sets cutting speeds and feed rates.

Operates machine controls to cycle through settings, stopping the machine and adjusting tool positions and controls to accommodate operational factors such as timing, clearance between moving components, and chip removal.

Initiates machine operation, monitors performance, and inspects parts to ensure compliance with specifications.
Assists in the maintenance and/or replacement of worn tools; operates bench grinders to sharpen tools.
Adheres to company safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and ISO standards.

Engages in multitasking with additional responsibilities during machine cycles. Documents actions by completing production and quality logs as directed. Maintains a clean and organized work environment. Reports any concerns or opportunities for improvement to supervisory personnel. Utilizes hand tools for deburring, sanding, and assembly as required.


Work Environment:

This position primarily operates within a manufacturing setting and collaborates with team members across the facility.

The Multi-Spindle Lathe Technician will work with various industrial equipment and vehicles, such as forklifts, in an environment that may include exposure to high noise levels, vibrations, chemicals, dust, fumes, and mechanical hazards while performing job duties.

Attends to machinery for extended periods, managing equipment controls safely and effectively. Utilizes computer keyboards, desktop computers, calculators, and other production tools or controls. Maintains focus on tasks around large automatic machinery while applying sound reasoning and judgment. Reviews documents, monitors, or displays with potentially small print. Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, face shields, masks, gloves, or other required gear to operate equipment safely and effectively. Navigates through the production facility on potentially uneven or slippery surfaces. Responds to safety control alarms or alerts from machinery.

Engages in physical activities such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more, utilizing appropriate equipment.

The typical work schedule may vary based on the role, with potential for extended hours, including weekends or holidays as business needs dictate. This role is classified as full-time nonexempt (hourly) and will require a minimum of 40 hours per week. Work is expected to be completed within established deadlines and quality standards.

Overtime may be required when approved or requested by management.
