Radiology Technologist Position

Job Summary:
Detroit Medical Center is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic radiological exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify patient identity and review patient's medical record for appropriateness of exam or procedure.
- Interview patient to obtain, verify or update medical history and assess risk factors such as medications, pregnancy and/or psychological indicators.
- Explain procedure to patient, including side effects of pharmaceuticals administered, risks, benefits, alternatives and follow-up.
- Set up equipment and acquire appropriate images as per script.
- Review images, make initial observations, document exceptions from established protocols and communicate data to radiologist.
- Recognize and respond to medical emergencies as appropriate.
- Provide physician-prescribed post care instructions to patients.
- Participate in process improvement activities within radiology practice including but not limited to quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis and patient satisfaction.
- Provide imaging education to residents, student technologists and new employees.
Requirements:
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R).
- Required to have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation period.
