Radiology Technologist Position

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic radiological exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment. You will verify patient identity and review patient medical records for appropriateness of exam or procedure. You will also interview patients to obtain, verify or update medical history and assess risk factors such as medications, pregnancy and/or psychological indicators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic radiological exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment
  • Verify patient identity and review patient medical records
  • Interview patients to obtain, verify or update medical history and assess risk factors
  • Explain procedures to patients, including side effects of pharmaceuticals administered, risks, benefits, alternatives and follow-up
  • Set up equipment and acquire appropriate images as per script
  • Review images, make initial observations, document exceptions from established protocols and communicate data to radiologist
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies as appropriate
  • Provide physician-prescribed post care instructions to patients
  • Participate in process improvement activities within radiology practice

Requirements:

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BLS) training
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse atmosphere with a variety of hospital personnel and/or patients
  • Technical knowledge necessary to operate equipment including but not limited to all specialized equipment and computers
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients
