We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Haywood Regional Medical Center. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing echocardiographic studies and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Review patient history and physician's orders to ensure accurate and effective care.
- Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure their understanding and cooperation.
- Perform echocardiographic studies, taking into account the age-specific physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of the patient.
- Monitor patient condition continually and report/respond to changes in status as appropriate.
- Prepare equipment and supplies, implementing safety standards and performing quality control procedures.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and/or report equipment malfunctions as necessary.
- Position patients and perform imaging procedures, analyzing results and identifying issues with the quality of imaging results.
- Enter, transmit, and report scan results, performing quality Doppler and color Doppler exams.
- Acquire quality Stress Echo and Dobutamine images according to physician and benchmark standards.
- Perform quality trans-esophageal echocardiograms according to physician expectations.
- Completion of a cardiac and vascular ultrasound course or equivalent training and experience.
- One year of experience in cardiac sonography with an emphasis on 2D echocardiography, Doppler ultrasound, and life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia recognition preferred.
- Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 weeks of hire, AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.
- Required Licenses: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Registered with credentials as Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS), or Cardiac Credentialing International (RCS) required.
