Job SummaryHaywood Regional Medical Center seeks a skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiac and vascular ultrasound, with the ability to perform high-quality echocardiographic studies. Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders to ensure accurate and effective care.
  • Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Performs echocardiographic studies, considering the age-specific physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of the patient.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies, implements safety standards, and performs quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patients and performs imaging procedures.
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures.
  • Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.
  • Performs quality Doppler and color Doppler exams.
  • Acquires quality Stress Echo and Dobutamine images according to physician and benchmark standards.
  • Performs quality trans-esophageal echocardiograms according to physician expectations.
Requirements
  • Completion of a cardiac and vascular ultrasound course or any combination of training and experience that provides the skills and abilities to perform the requirements of this position.
  • One year of experience in cardiac sonography with an emphasis on 2D echocardiography, Doppler ultrasound, and life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia recognition preferred.
  • Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 weeks of hire, AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.
  • Required Licenses: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Registered with credentials as Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS), or Cardiac Credentialing International (RCS) required.
