Cardiac Sonographer Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Haywood Regional Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing echocardiographic studies, reviewing patient history and physician's orders, and educating patients regarding procedures and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform echocardiographic studies, considering the age-specific physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of the patient.
- Review patient history and physician's orders to ensure accurate and effective care.
- Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient understanding and cooperation.
- Monitor patient condition continually and report/respond to changes in status as appropriate.
- Prepare equipment and supplies, implementing safety standards and performing quality control procedures.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and/or report equipment malfunctions as necessary.
- Position patient and perform imaging procedure(s), analyzing results and identifying issues with the quality of imaging results.
- Take appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
- Enter, transmit, and report scan results, performing quality Doppler and color Doppler exams.
- Acquire quality Stress Echo and Dobutamine images according to physician and benchmark standards.
- Perform quality trans-esophageal echocardiograms according to physician expectations.
- Completion of a cardiac and vascular ultrasound course or equivalent training and experience.
- One year of experience in cardiac sonography, with emphasis on 2D echocardiography, Doppler ultrasound, and life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia recognition.
- Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 weeks of hire, AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Cardiac Credentialing International (RCS) required, with registration within one year of employment if a graduate of an accredited school of ultrasound.
