POSITION SUMMARY

The full-time Clinical Educator is tasked with collaborating with the Clinic Director to ensure the delivery of high-quality clinical services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

Clinical Duties

Support students in delivering diagnostic and therapeutic services within the clinic.

Assist in maintaining a diverse client base for the on-campus clinic.

Conduct assessments and formulate intervention plans for clinic clients.

Document the progress of clients and students effectively.

Provide counseling services to families.

Guide students through their practicum experiences.

Engage in ongoing professional development on topics pertinent to clinical instruction and services.

Administrative Duties

Prepare daily progress reports and semester evaluations for students.

Conduct weekly meetings with students to review their progress.

Coordinate services with external agencies.

Ensure compliance with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations in clinical practices.

Participate in the collection of program assessment data.

SUPERVISORY ROLE

This position oversees the provision of speech pathology services primarily through telehealth and/or on-campus interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

A Master's degree or equivalent in speech-language pathology is required, along with three to five years of clinical experience in the field. Comprehensive academic and clinical knowledge of speech-language pathology is essential, as well as strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and mediation skills.

Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Candidates must possess a personal commitment to the Christian faith.

Support for the mission of Calvin University as a Reformed Christian higher education institution is essential.

Demonstrated sensitivity and concern for others, with the ability to listen and relate to students, faculty, and staff, is required.

High integrity and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are necessary.

Familiarity with telehealth service delivery, virtual platform technology, and electronic medical records is advantageous.

Capability to teach courses in-person and/or online is a plus.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) is required. Michigan licensure is mandatory, and licensure in additional states is appreciated.

The Clinical Educator is also expected to maintain a minimum of 10 continuing education units in clinical supervision and related areas annually.


COMMUNICATION ABILITIES

This role necessitates the ability to draft and edit correspondence, as well as train or instruct students within the same department, requiring significant communication skills.


Confidential information handling is a critical aspect of this position.

COMPLEXITY OF ROLE

This position requires the ability to execute detailed written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and to manage standardized situations involving multiple variables.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The position holds the authority, with appropriate approval, to recommend actions that may influence procedures, processes, and practices affecting employees within the same department.


DECISION MAKING AND JUDGMENT

This role regularly requires independent judgment in prioritizing tasks and organizing work to achieve desired outcomes. Some responsibilities are performed in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.

This position necessitates regular interaction with employees or clients, dealing with routine matters with occasional supervision. Participants utilize their expertise to influence outcomes and resolve issues.
