Responsibilities- Surgical Assistance: Assist surgeons in various general surgery procedures, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.
- Patient Evaluation and Management: Conduct patient assessments, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic test interpretation.
- Post-Operative Care: Monitor patients in the post-operative period, assessing vital signs and managing pain and complications.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including surgical notes, progress reports, and treatment plans.
- PA - Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program, minimum Bachelor's degree required
- Certification: Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification (ACNP)
- BLS/ACLS/AED training required and accepted from only 1 organization
- DEA registration required for those with discharge responsibilities
