Job Description

CAT Scan Technologist - Per Diem

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform CT examinations requiring a sound understanding of anatomical positioning, CT protocols, and equipment to produce optimum results.
  • Follow departmental protocols for procedures unless specified otherwise by the Radiologist.
  • Produce quality diagnostic images for interpretation.
  • Assume accountability for managing delivery of care and patient safety.
  • Communicate with attending Radiologists and verify provider orders.
  • Obtain and document patient history and relevant information.
  • Ensure CT room cleanliness after exams and procedures, adhering to infection control standards.
  • Prioritize and organize work assignments, adjusting priorities based on changing situations.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Operate CT and medical imaging equipment properly and safely.
  • Experience with Power injectors is preferred.
  • Demonstrate awareness of Radiation Safety procedures for self and others.
  • Prepare and assist in the administration of contrast materials.
General Requirements:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and compliance of safety, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform daily, monthly, semi-annual, and annual Quality Control.
  • Use problem-solving, critical thinking, and priority-setting skills.
  • Develop strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attend department meetings.
  • Perform other job duties as required.
Education, Certification, and Training Requirements:
  • 1-3 years' experience required.
  • Graduated from an accredited Radiology program.
  • Licensed by NJ State DEP.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies.
  • BLS certification is required; IV certification is preferred.
  • Maintain current knowledge of RIS and PACS computer systems.
  • Communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Develop advanced computer skills, including email, Microsoft applications, and the ability to comprehend and utilize Electronic Medical Record Systems, RIS, and PACS Systems.
