We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Animal Technician to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional care to laboratory animals, ensuring their health and well-being in a safe and sanitary environment.
Key Responsibilities- Animal Care: Handle and care for animals on a daily basis, observing and maintaining awareness of their physical needs and condition.
- Facility Maintenance: Clean cages, prepare caging and equipment for animal care, and maintain the sanitary condition of the animals and their environment.
- Environmental Control: Monitor and record the condition of an animal's environment, including temperature, air exchange, and light cycle.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintain proper medical records and inventory records on individual animals, and participate in in-house training programs.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Skills: Ability to safely and efficiently lift and transport equipment or feed packages of up to 50 lbs, strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment efficiently, and ability to work weekend and holiday schedules.
- Commitment: Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
The successful candidate will work in a laboratory animal facility, handling animals and equipment, and will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
