Splash Financial is a fintech company that simplifies financial products and makes them accessible to people who need help. We're a remote-first company, and we pride ourselves on creating an environment that empowers good people to do great things fast.

We're looking for a technical leader who can join our team and make a big impact on our technical organization. As a Senior Technical Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for leading an engineering team that builds and manages our public-facing website, affiliate partnerships, and online product application experience.

As a member of our leadership bench, you will have an active role in building and leading us into technological advances for our platform and products. You will collaborate with internal teams in various departments to align on priorities, sequence work, and set and reset expectations proactively.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of technical people management experience, is as comfortable in a backend architectural discussion as they are in defining a build and deployment pipeline for front-end codebases and developing UIs. They should be experienced in designing in a microservices architecture paradigm and have strong knowledge of one or more backend languages, databases, cloud hosting providers, infrastructure as code, and interservice communication protocols. Experience with orchestrated distributed systems and first-class workflows is a major plus.

We offer a competitive salary package, including equity, comprehensive insurance benefits, paid parental leave for both caregivers, and a 401(k) plan for your future savings. Our employees enjoy fully remote work freedom, flexible PTO, and quarterly meet-ups for fun and connection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead an engineering team to build and manage our public-facing website, affiliate partnerships, and online product application experience.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align on priorities, sequence work, and set expectations.
  • Performance manage, grow, and elevate team talent through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and calibration sessions.
  • Implement best practice engineering methods and strive for operational excellence across the teams.
  • Contribute to the vision and OKR setting for the engineering department and foster a community of technical learning and growth.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Expert-level knowledge of Javascript and its ecosystem.
  • Strong functional programming skills.
  • 4+ years of people management experience, leading technical teams of engineers (in fintech or tech startup preferred).
  • Experience in designing in a microservices architecture paradigm and knowledge of one or more backend languages, databases, cloud hosting providers, infrastructure as code, and interservice communication protocols.
  • Excellent written communication, including technical writing, and the habit of designing deliberately, first, through design documents.
  • A can-do, positive attitude and a tendency to learn the business and domain it operates in.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
