Job Title: Substitute School Nurse

We are seeking a qualified Substitute School Nurse to join our team at Big Spring Independent School District.

Job Summary:

The Substitute School Nurse will provide health services to students, promote health education and preventive health practices, and implement comprehensive programs of health services for the campus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide health services to students, including administering medications, conducting vision and hearing screenings, and making referrals as necessary.
  • Develop and coordinate continuing evaluation of campus health program and make changes based on findings.
  • Participate in development of campus health education curriculum and provide health education to individuals and groups.
  • Serve as health liaison between school, physicians, parents, and community.
  • Assess student problems and make appropriate referrals working with students, teachers, parents, and medical and health care professionals as needed.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Valid licensed vocational nurse to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening.
  • CPR Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years nursing experience, preferably in community health.
