We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rental Equipment Delivery Driver to join our team at Western States. As a key member of our delivery team, you will be responsible for delivering and picking up rental equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of heavy machinery.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver and pick up rental equipment using a Class 8 truck with a 40,000-pound capacity.
- Load and unload equipment onto trailers, following all safety requirements to ensure proper securing.
- Determine the most efficient route based on load weight, road, and traffic conditions.
- Maintain a Driver's Log Book as required by DOT regulations.
- Follow DOT rules and regulations regarding oversize loads and permits, administering daily inspection requirements and meeting all DOT driver qualifications rules and regulations.
- Instruct customers on proper equipment use and safety procedures.
- Inspect equipment upon return for damage, abuse, fuel levels, and all attachments.
- Assist with service tasks as needed.
- Complete documents for rental closeout upon return.
- Perform operational inspections of all returned rental machines and perform minor repairs or maintenance.
- Report any delays due to breakdowns, weather, or traffic conditions, or in the event of irregularities relating to pick up or delivery of equipment.
- Report all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment, and report highway safety hazards noted in route.
- Wash all rental machines upon return and touch up paint as needed to maintain proper machine appearance.
- Maintain delivery truck appearance and mechanical condition of truck.
- Work with the service department on pre-delivery of new equipment.
- Adhere to all customer care standards.
- Actively care and advocate for safety at Western States, adhering to all applicable safety policies, procedures, and standards.
- Serve as a team member in support of Western States' strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.
- Work within and promote corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.
- Working knowledge of Caterpillar equipment and diesel trucks and trailers.
- Knowledge of DOT legal requirements.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge and use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work overtime with minimum notice.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Consistent attendance.
- Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Valid Class A - CDL driver's license with an excellent driving record and current DOT physical card.
- 6 to 12 months commercial driving experience with over-the-road tractor & trailer experience.
- Knowledge of usage and operation of light construction equipment preferred.
- Ability to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
- Ability to stand for long periods, walk, sit, climb stairs, reach, push, pull, lean, and twist.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with Western States' Lifting Safe Work Practice.
- Ability to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
