Logistics Operations Supervisor Overview

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will take charge of the logistics team, providing leadership, strategic planning, and direction during the preparation of merchandise for the sales floor, unloading of shipments, stocking, pricing, and organization of the backroom. You will work closely with the logistics team while being accountable for the unloading of shipments, processing of freight, merchandising metrics, and presentation standards throughout the store. When acting as the Manager on Duty, you will guide and oversee store associates engaged in cashiering, customer service, recovery, and furniture-related tasks on the sales floor. You may also be required to operate a cash register, assist with customer service, or help with recovery as necessary. Collaborating with store leadership, you will strive to achieve merchandising goals and enhance overall store performance.

Essential Duties:

  1. Lead and organize the preparation for new merchandise on the sales floor, including truck unloading, freight flow, display assembly, pricing, and stocking tasks for the logistics team.
  2. Provide clear guidance, training, and coaching to logistics team members regarding freight flow processes and furniture assembly.
  3. Assess and evaluate staffing and scheduling requirements for all freight flow processes based on projected carton counts and payroll allocations weekly.
  4. Monitor, calculate, and report freight productivity metrics within the store on a weekly basis.
  5. Offer constructive feedback to store leadership regarding the team's performance and ability to meet freight metrics.
  6. Ensure the organization and cleanliness of the stockroom, including back stock control.
  7. Prepare for upcoming merchandising initiatives and reconcile all inventory transactions in collaboration with store merchandising leadership.
  8. Assume the Manager on Duty role as needed, including opening and closing the store. In this capacity, provide leadership and direction to floor associates, ensuring that store, merchandising, and customer service standards are consistently met, including merchandise presentation, signage, recovery, and cleanliness. Enhance the customer experience and ensure resolution of customer issues.

Qualifications:

  1. A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience is required. Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
  2. A minimum of two years of retail management experience is preferred.
  3. Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  4. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds is required. Candidates must be capable of unloading freight, moving products on and off store shelves, and maintaining mobility throughout the store for extended periods.
  5. Availability to work a flexible schedule of at least 30 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
  6. Basic literacy in English, math, and PC skills is necessary.
